Team tennis awarded one point for each postseason advancement, while individual sports required a team finish of fifth in the state or better, first place earning 10 points. Team sports earned four points for a district championship, two points for a playoff berth and two points for each playoff advancement. Points are awarded based on performance in academic state competition, baseball, basketball, congress, cross country, film, football, golf, marching band, mariachi, military marching band, one-act play, robotics, soccer, softball, spirit, swimming and diving, team tennis, tennis, theatrical design, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. The Woodlands was the highest-ranking Houston-area school, finishing as runner-up to Southlake Carroll. Seven Lakes placed ninth overall, while Tompkins finished 20th and Katy was 23rd. Katy ISD had three representatives among the Class 6A top 25, out of more than 200 schools.
